January Jammin 2014 Work from Home Income Stop Whining Make Money

January is definitely setting the tone for the year at $1,611.52. If I could keep that up all  year, Id be on track to bring down about $20,000 this year, which would help with so many things (kitchen remodel, paying off my husbands truck, a new PC, new tires for the previously mentioned truck and more!).

As always, I dont post this because Im bragging; I post it as a challenge to you if you want to do what I do. Of course there are those who make much more than I do, but I choose to do what I do with kids underfoot and I can only put in a handful of hours per week. The income potential for you is there, and I just want to share sources and helps with you.

In case you wanted to know, here were Aprils numbers, and then Mays numbers. Then here are Junes numbers, and you can see Im increasing my income every month. July was amazing but not as good as August! September was $1,651.26. October was a little better than that. Heres November. Here was December 2013.

I am in the Stop Whining About Money and Do Something About It Club! Care to join me in 2014? Open enrollment is now and there are lots of new members!

Disclaimers: For the record, I have no reason to lie to you about any of the income I’m reporting, and the most underhanded, nasty, smarmy thing I’m going to do is give you my referral links so I can make a whopping dime or so off of each person who signs up to do what I’m doing! The dollar amounts I show are what I actually RECEIVED in my hot little hand or PayPal account, not what I EARNED because things show up at different times and take different amounts of time to come around.

Just like always: I STILL do not count my eggs before they are in my PayPal account. Now, lets get started:

1. Fiverr. $332. The majority of my income is from proofreading when my kids sleep.

2. Bubblews. $320.84. Just click on the word Bubblews and you can sign up using my referral link and I might make a dime. This is basically a blogging site that you can read more about here. Anyone can join.

3. Regional Parenting Magazine articles, new and reprint: $150. That would be thanks to this little gem, and Im not even really trying or writing anything new. I got busy with proofing and slacked hard on this area, but plan to make a comeback in 2014! My girlfriend also just got a piece published using the email submissions list I have in this book. It works!

4. PostLoop. $5.91 doing not much at all. Im going to send you here because I have a lot of information on this and it needed its own post. Bottom line: probably worth it and potentially $10/hour while you watch TV. *IF YOU SIGN UP UNDER ME USING MY REFERRAL LINK, THANK YOU! PLEASE DO THE 10 POSTS TO GET STARTED; YOU WILL GET POINTS FOR THOSE AND THEN A RATING, THEN YOU CAN CONTINUE ON.

5. Private proofing, formatting, social media jobs: $640

6. BlogHer tweets, Facebook posts and blog ad income: $55.34

7. The Kindle Pixie, my side business helping authors get the attention they deserve: $84.50

8. Ebooks on Amazon: $22.93 is my half after I pay my partner, who designs all my covers and does other misc. wonderful things. I now have 5 ebooks on Amazon with a 6th on the way (Laid-Back Homeschooling) and a 7th (The Kerrie Show Takes on Summer), so I am not to be deterred about this ebook business! Heres how to find my offerings! And heres how to find the ebook below for only 99 cents, which leads to another, free one with tons more markets for online and guest posting venues that pay:

Sell Your Reprints Residual Income Make Money to Write About Your Kids for 4 99 This Week

Okay, I realize a lot of you are seeing this or getting this in your email inbox because you already have the ebook Make Money to Write About Your Kids: Get Published in Parenting and Family Magazines.

For those who dont know what it is, here is the description AND I want you to know that for the next FIVE DAYS ONLY it is on Kindle Countdown for only $4.99 ... which is half the normal price, which is always a steal. Youll see! If you hate it, get a refund! If you love it, get in touch with me, start writing, tell your writer friends and writer groups about this Little Engine That Could resource that has changed lives but remains still, sadly, under the radar. Heres how to purchase!

My bet is that quite often you read a magazine or online article and say to yourself, “I could have written that – and better!” So you write your essay or article. Then what? Where do you submit it? Do you give up at this point? I’ve seen it happen too many times. Your writing dreams are crushed and those paychecks are never going to show up in your mailbox.

Think of this ebook as your writing angel. It has 16 chapters of useful information before it dives into 239 paying markets, complete with submission email addresses, submission guidelines and pay information. This is the 5th edition of the ebook, and over the years it has been perfected to include not just regional markets such as San Diego Family, BC Parent, Orlando Family and more, but also has added national markets such as FamilyFun, BabyTalk, Parents, Parenting, Homeschooling Today and many more.

I have personally been published in 138 regional parenting magazines in print and online since publishing this resource, all while maintaining a home, a marriage and homeschooling. I love being able to be at home with my kids while also living my dream of writing and making money for my family. I can get my work done mostly while the kids sleep and then head out to the pool or to the zoo with them! I want other mom and dad writers to be able to realize their dreams, as well. And, of course, you dont have to be a parent to write for and sell your reprints to these regional parenting publications!

*Please email me at mommykerrie at yahoo dot com after your purchase so I can send you the FREE at-a-glance spreadsheet that simply did not look right on the Kindle format! It has all the magazines, emails, approximate pay and state.

You can find the list of publications I have worked with here: http://www.thekerrieshow.com/2008/03/cool-places-to-get-published.html

I Still Make Money Selling My Parenting and Family Reprints! Marketing is the Key

Nope, I didnt just WRITE the book on getting published in parenting and family magazines over and over again using the SAME article!

I am PROOF that it works because I do it and have been doing it for going on 10 years! I sent out my two Mothers Day offerings in March and have so far been accepted in 5 different magazines for a total of $170! Keep in mind here that these articles are FOUR YEARS OLD and they keep selling. I just have to market them!

How do you market an article?

You dont forget about it. You dont write it, sell it once and let it rot.

You say, "Hmmm, Im going to send out this Mothers Day piece I popped off in December to every magazine in Kerries ebook. And Im probably going to hear back from a few magazines. But then I have to put a reminder SOMEWHERE to also send it out AGAIN to all publications EXCEPT the ones who accepted it the first time (otherwise I am just rude and annoying) sometime around March for all those publications who DO NOT work 6 months in advance."

There are a lot of magazines who work 6 months out and have it all planned out. But if something INSANELY FABULOUS comes into their email box, they might bump something else or make more space.

There are also a lot of magazines who work LAST-MINUTE and you want to be their go-to writer, believe me. Its April 23 as I write this and most magazines are all put to bed, but just today I got another Mothers Day acceptance. I am happy to be the last-minute filler girl, and you should be also!

How can you do what I am doing? Just grab my print book (so you can mark it up and make changes, additions, deletions, highlights, etc.) and get going! Write me for the .csv file so you can more quickly get the emails in your system and get submitting! And dont forget you can send things previously published on your blog, on Huffington Post Parents, ANYWHERE that you did not sign a contract saying you wouldnt. If its your work, you can sell it again and again as long as you dont sign anything saying you cant shop it around for a year or something. I dont advise you do that! Heres the link!

A FINE PARENT (online)
afineparent.com
sumitha@afineparent.com
Guidelines: Write for us about Our Current Topic, which can be found online. Submit detailed outline by approximately the 4thof each month. I will let you know if your outline is accepted on approximately the 6th. The first draft of the full article is due by approximately the 13th. Payment will be made within 24 hours of receiving the final draft. Payment per accepted article is $100 + links + a shot at the annual bonus. (NOTE: This page is updated on the 1st of each month with a new topic and submission dates. Please sign up for notifications.) A Fine Parent is an online community for parents who believe that Great Parents are Made, Not Born. We focus on one topic each month that can help us become better people and better parents. Each week on the blog I publish one in-depth article related to the monthly topic. Initially, I wrote all the articles for this blog myself. After sharing a few readers stories and guest posts however, I realized just how much we can all benefit from shared wisdom and diverse voices. Hence this call for you to write for us. If you are constantly working on becoming a better parent, if you have a few hard-earned nuggets of wisdom under your sleeve, if you see another parent and instantly connect, AND if you happen to be a writer as well … boy, have we been waiting for you!

What We Look for In the Articles We Publish:
·         the article MUST offer practical and actionable advice/tips
·         the article MUST contain personal stories and anecdotes that connect with the other parents in our community (blah list posts won’t cut it)
·         the article MUST be written in web-format (well-organized; skimmable; short paragraphs; lists and bullets when possible; custom illustrations when possible)
·         the article MUST include references to books, research or other authoritative references (you can even link to articles on your own blog as long as it is relevant and offers value)
·         the article MUST be original and not published anywhere else before
·         the article MUST contain the mandatory “2-minute action plan” (contemplation/reflection questions) and the “long-term action plan” (specific action to take over the next week) sections at the bottom of the article (see the bottom of any article for samples)
·         Most articles on the blog are in the 1,500-2,500 words range. I prefer to stick to that range, but will make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
By submitting the article you agree that if your article is published, I will retain the rights to republish or reuse the material in the future, of course with due credit to you. If you’re not familiar with the blog, please spend some time there to get a feel for it first. You may even consider joining our community and just watching what gets posted for a bit before you start writing for us.

How to Submit
·         Send me an email with the article outline before the deadline. Include as many details as possible to help me make an informed decision (for instance, mention any background stories that you plan to tie in, a list of the practical tips that will be included, references that will be used, any books that will be mentioned etc.)
·         If you have published online before, please send me a few links so I can get a sense of your writing style.
·         If your outline is accepted, send the completed article as a word document before the deadline.
·         Include the keywords “Kick-ass Article for AFP” in ALL your email subject lines. (I get a LOT of mail, so this is extremely important to ensure that you receive a prompt response from me).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1.       I missed the deadline for this month, or this month’s topic does not resonate with me. Do you by any chance have a list of the future topics?
Yes, sort of. A Fine Parent has been evolving into a true community blog and the topics we cover now are picked by our readers through a survey. A link to the response from our latest survey is online, and that should give you an idea of what we will cover next.
2.       How do you notify me about the outline?
I do my best to notify everyone of (a) the receipt of the outline and (b) the final decision. It will help immensely if you include the keywords “Kick-ass Article for AFP” in ALL your email subject lines. I receive a lot of mails and those words are part of an email filter that marks your mails as important so I can respond in a timely manner.
3.       What kind of articles are more likely to get selected?
We’ve been doing this for a few months now, and a pattern is beginning to emerge. The articles that I end up publishing are the ones where I see that you personally relate to the topic you’ve chosen to write about and hence will be able to connect more authentically and genuinely with the reader. For instance, if you are writing about how to teach kids to be compassionate, then either you’ve had to deal with your child acting unexpectedly mean, or your child has been a victim of bullying. Also, the “lessons learned”/ ”what I’m trying to do”/ ”what is working for me now” parts of your article tend to be much more real and not a riff off of a few Google search results. Think of it … You are a parent too. Which one of these would you rather read—a preachy list of things of what you must do in any given situation, or a real-life account of what another parent did in a very similar situation, their thought process, the obstacles they came up against and how they triumphed?
4.       Can I submit more than one outline?
No. Please submit only one outline per month. See #3 above. I’d rather that the focus be on quality than on quantity, and you send me that one article about the topic that most resonates with you.
If you have not written for us before or if you’ve not been a member of our community for long, please use the suggestions below to send your first outline. Also, please be sure to pick something you have personal experience with—anecdotes, unique perspectives and lessons learnt are highly valued in our community (hashed up lists compiled using Google search generally don’t make the cut). If you can bring professional advice from your day job and apply it in a clever and practical way to this month’s topic, please do—these are some of the most highly prized articles we seek out!
Approximate pay: $100 per article via PayPal with the chance for a $200 bonus at the end of the year if your piece is the most popular.

Marchs Kick Ass Work From Home Income Stop Whining Make Money!

March came in at  $1,766.76.  Ive been able to take my kids on some fancy dates lately with more planned and we are able to save up for a week-long trip to Branson (okay, two nights are free for being a blogger but still!) and are saving up for another week-long trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in the fall. Sure couldnt do that last year! And can you imagine what groceries cost each month for a family of SEVEN?

Sure, Mr. Kerrie brings down a nice wage, but these days prices are going crazy ... some people NEED this "extra" money to pay basic bills because of a layoff has happened or some other bad situation is going on. Some people like being able to make extra money for "wants" ... and why not when it is so easy to do from home when the kids are at school or when they are asleep or watching a movie?

In case you wanted to know, here were Aprils numbers, and then Mays numbers. Then here are Junes numbers, and you can see Im increasing my income every month. July was amazing but not as good as August! September was $1,651.26. October was a little better than that. Heres November. Here was December 2013. And here was January. February is here.

1. Fiverr and other private proofreading. $1,137.50.

2. Bubblews. $320.05. Just click on the word Bubblews and you can sign up using my referral link and I might make a dime. This is basically a blogging site that you can read more about here. Anyone can join. I made less here than other months because of the way the payments worked out. Ive started to cash out only on Sundays at around $80 each time so it takes about a week for the payment to clear. Last month I wasnt able to do as much because I was proofreading, but I was still cashing out around $50 per week.

3. Regional Parenting Magazine articles, new and reprint: $120. That would be thanks to this little gem, and Im not even really trying or writing anything new. I got busy with proofing and slacked hard on this area, but plan to make a comeback in 2014!

4. Blogging income, BlogHer tweeting, etc.: $105

5. Ebooks on Amazon: $18.47 because I share half with my cover designer and partner. Heres how to find my offerings! And heres how to find the ebook below for only 99 cents, which leads to another, free one with tons more markets for online and guest posting venues that pay:

6. eBay: $65.74 by selling some extra stuff.

Can 5 Projects Make You Rich by Marc Charles

6:15 AM

Dear Friends:

Im a big fan of Fiverr.com.

Granted, a lot of people are trashing the site, posting bogus reviews of the site, and trying to "game" the Fiverr system.

But Fiverr is still here....and the stupid site works.

Im a top seller on Fiverr. The key to making money is by providing products and services the MARKET WANTS -- not neccessarily what YOU want.

In other words, all you need to do is research the site and try to discover the highest rated sellers in your areas of interest or expertise. THEN....develop and align your Gig with the bestsellers. You also need feedback and reviews. If you don;t have any yet, you can BUY REVIEWS on Fiverr!

Better yet......

Check out my new program called MicroGig Riches 2015! Im dead serious....you wont find ANYTHING like my program, material and course online, or on Clickbank. Its really good...and you can read all of the testimonials.

100% Money Back Guarantee -- as always :)

Have fun.

No....you probably wont get rich! But you can easily make money "on the side" with Fiverr. Let me show you how!

Fiverr Tutorials Where I Make Money From Home WAHM

I stumbled on Fiverr.com in April of 2013 when I was looking for a way to make money from home online to pay off some mounting dental bills and other things. I was not disappointed. I immediately had a full queue full of jobs and found that I could customize my gigs ... if I was not busy I could put my gig on a 2-day delivery time. If I was full up, I could change it to a 29-day delivery time to discourage new orders. Give it a shot. Its a versatile way to make money online.

How Much Do I Make as a Freelance Writer Updated Weekly

2013 note: I put this in draft mode after my laptop fell in the drink, got fixed, then the hard drive went kaput. I kinda lost the will to write for a bit after that. Yes, its nice when you are married and your man has a job. Those of you who write for a LIVING, feel free to throw tomatoes at me now.

This year I finally have Internet at home so there is no stopping me from reaching those financial goals. Lets get there together! I love to hear from you!

Aint no hidin from the IRS for me!

Instead of putting this in the sidebar, its going to be a blog post updated weekly. Remember that some weeks I am not able to work much, what with homeschooling 5 kids and having a husband who is out of town (excuses, excuses). Sometimes I am able to work a lot. Some weeks will reflect that I didnt work much but got many checks in the mail. Thats why I average out the weeks every now and then, since once week looks like Im a rockstar and one week looks like Im a loser.

Lately I havent been working much at all but the checks come in from when I was working hard, so it looks like Im a gazillionaire, but I can assure you I am not. I need to start figuring in when I pay a sitter and deduct that from my earnings. Maybe next year! It isnt that often and hubby is supposed to stop traveling as of August 2012.

UPDATES to 6th Edition of Make Money to Write About Your Kids

Please check back here regularly for updates to the 6th edition of Make Money to Write About Your Kids, as publications are always starting up and going out of business and making email changes!

Thats what great about the print edition of the book:  you can just cross out the ones that are out of business and add in the new ones! Then make sure to adjust your email submission list accordingly! Here we go:

Alamo Area Kids & Family ... do not submit. They are not a paying market and asked me to take them off my list for submissions entirely.

4/21/15 ... Solo Parent is not a paying market. If you would like to get some coverage and offer them a piece for free, go for it, but they do not pay. I apologize for adding them to the book without researching enough.

Parents Source is no longer publishing.

If you get bounceback from Omaha Familys email in the book, try lauren at hathawaypublishing dot net

Space City Publishing (several magazines): kim at spacecitypublishing dot com

Red River Family: working on getting publisher at redriverfamily dot com or laura at redriverfamily dot com to go through and asking their best email for submissions

Sacramento Parent: shelly at sacramentoparent dot com

Maritime Family relaunching fall 2015

Coastal Family: editor at coastalfamily dot com

Utah Family: I hate to do this but I am taking them out of the book. I find my articles in their publication, notify them and then it takes them forever to pay. I recently contacted some other writer friends and they had the same experience. Once writer has been waiting two years for payment. This is not acceptable. If you dont treat your writers well, you will find yourself with no writers! Ill be calling them.

How to Make Money on the China without Moving to Beijing by Marc Charles

How to Make Money on the China “Boom” without Moving to Beijing

7:01 AM

Dear Friend:

I realize China has seen better days. Today.....the debt, corruption, manipulations, lies, deceit and everything else is rampant.

Whats more, China has been in the news again. This time its about dumping the dollar, threatening Google and forcing a two-child limit for families.

But, one thing is NOT in jeopardy….Chinese imports and exports. Billions of people need a lot of stuff.

On top of that, Chinese companies are bending over backwards to do business with the west, they need to move exports.

I discovered a business that taps into the China miracle with at least six things going for it:

·       It’s easy to understand (and get off the ground)

·       It doesn’t require a boatload of cash to start

·       There are no employees (unless you want them)

·       It capitalizes on a very profitable expanding market

·       There is almost NO red tape (in fact, I’ll show you a site where you can get started today with no hassle)

·       Profit potential -- huge demand market (even in the current depression)

I’m referring to importing and exporting.

Now hang on……

I know what you’ve heard.

But hear me out.

You’ve never seen this side of an import export business before.

I promise.

The proverbial bottom-line…..

You can import products for pennies or dimes on the dollar and resell them on the Internet at huge markups.

My friend Valerie Johnson started importing pajamas in 2006, with the same tools I’m showing you today, and she did more than $1 million in sales last year.

On top of that, Valerie was invited to the top Academy Awards after party to hand out her pajamas….she made life changing contacts!

You can also import products for wholesalers or retail businesses and chain stores. And you don’t have to be a retail expert or store inventory in your garage. I hate inventories because they can become obsolete overnight! That’s why Walmart uses sophisticated on-demand inventory systems.

On top of that, entrepreneurs have discovered an easy way to become a middleman (or woman) and broker deals for other companies. I love this angel!

I’ll show you how to cut through the BS and get this business up and running quickly.

One Big Flaw in This Business

You probably heard about Chinese toy exporters in the news.

A few companies were in news because of the lead content in their toys.

One company got really hot water because a chemical converted into a dangerous drug when swallowed was found in a product called AquaDots.

Not good.

This was a terrible turn of events. Products like this should be yanked off the shelves! AquaDots and about a dozen other products were wiped from the face of the earth!

Lawsuits from stuff like this can happen. That’s a flaw.

But when you look out how many products are imported from China, these incidents are extremely rare.

What’s more, the toy market is a small slice of the multi-trillion dollar importing pie.

The demand for imported products is accelerating at breakneck speed!

And there’s no slowdown in sight.

For example, last year China became the top importer of whole milk powder.

Whole milk powder is a powder made from dried (dehydrated) milk solids.

Powdered milk has a longer shelf life than liquid milk and does not need to be refrigerated because of the low moisture content.

Anyway, China is the second largest importer of milk powder and the demand for this stuff is growing like wildfire.

Experts have said China’s imports will increase by more than 12 percent in 2012.

And that’s just the beginning!

Exporting is red hot too!

Despite all of the news about a recession and depression, Canada, Mexico, China, Brazil, and Australia are importing products from the U.S. to the tune of more than $35 billion a year, with no slowdown in site.

Combine all this with a new site called Alibaba.com.

Think of this as the Rise of Alibaba.com and the New Entrepreneurs!

Alibaba.com is the largest and most successful import/export marketplace for entrepreneurs in the world. It is currently ranked among the top 500 websites on Alexa.

But that’s not all…. Alibaba.com has more than 25 million members in 200 countries!

The company has offices in more than 30 cities in China (including Hong Kong), Europe, and the United States. And it was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange two years ago.

Alibaba.com founder Jack Ma is planning on buying Yahoo!

Here’s what Jack said in a recent interview:

“Our focus is on helping small and medium-size companies make money. We never copied a model from the U.S., like a lot of Chinese Internet entrepreneurs did. We focused on product quality. It has to be “click and get it” …or its rubbish.”

This is only the tip of the iceberg

Although Alibaba.com facilitates more than $5 billion in import/export transactions each year, this still leaves trillions of dollars in business on the table.

Thats right: T-R-I-L-L-I-O-N-S.

The worldwide import/export market is a multi-trillion-dollar marketplace.

It’s a virtual waterfall of cash.

It is one of the great new opportunities for entrepreneurs.

But you need to understand how the game is played.

The Alibaba.coms system teaches you how to play the game better than anywhere on the Internet.

More importantly, Alibaba.com receives monster traffic with importers and exporters just like you. It is much more targeted eBay.

How to Make Money with Alibaba.com Right Now

One of the fastest ways to hit the ground running and start making money with Alibaba.com is to understand which products are already moving or in-demand.

The fastest way to find high demand products is to review the Hot Products section on Alibaba.com or Google Shopping.

The Hot Products section on Alibaba.com features products which are moving quickly.

On Google Shopping you’ll see a list of items recently searched for by consumers and purchased.

You can also identify hot products on eBay, Yahoo! Stores, Amazon.com, Overstock.com, and Newegg.com.

And don’t forget our good friend Mr. Wal-Mart. Whatever products you see listed on the main Wal-Mart.com page are probably selling like hotcakes.

As you probably know, most of the products for sale at Wal-Mart are imported from China, Vietnam and Thailand.

Heres a list of 40 top-selling, in-demand products priced under $50 on Google Shopping, Amazon.com, and Wal-Mart.com.

How to Make Money with a Simple Product and Googles Help by Marc Charles

How to Make $10,000 Selling a Simple Product Online with Google and China’s Help!

7:01 AM

Dear Entrepreneur:

Check out my new Importing Fortunes promo.

Bob Maydonik makes $10,000 to $20,000 every month importing a simple product from China and selling it online.

He also secured a unique partnership with Google to design his AdWords campaign for him.

I talked to Bob on Monday about his little venture.

On top of that, Google provided advertising seed money for him to boot!

I’ll show you how Bob does it and how you could do something similar too.

As some of you know, I wrote a comprehensive home study course and e-book called China Wholesale Trader. An updated edition will be available soon from AWAI.

But know this…..

I’m not a rookie when it comes to outsourcing companies in China, and importing products for resale.

What’s more, my good friend and consulting client Phillip Sterling was in the process of launching a venture to export cigarettes to China and sell them under a “Mary Kay Cosmetics” business model, until his untimely death in 2004.

This was before all the “big boys” got ahold of  the strategy.

And so…I have a little insight into exporting products into China as well.

Here’s what Bob Maydonik did ….

Bob designed an oversized yoga mat which measures 6’ x 6’.

He called his company and product Square36.

This simple product makes $10,000-$25,000 per month for Bob Maydonik.

It took Bob about a year and a half to get this thing up and running, and become profitable.  You could do it much faster with the information in today’s issue!

Bob got the idea for an oversized yoga mat while doing the training program  P90X. He told me he was annoyed the size of typical yoga mats.

A New Site Opens the Door for You …..

With the idea in hand Bob he set out to find someone to design and manufacture it.

The he stumbled on Alibaba.com.

Alibaba.com is a Monster Resource for entrepreneurs to manufacture and import products from China.

Alibaba.com is one of the highest traffic business websites on the Internet.

I’m dead serious…..they have more than 6 million registered users and facilitate more than $6 billion dollars in transactions every year.

Bob located a company to manufacture the Square36 and export it to the US super cheap!

The next step was to get a website up and running…. here it is:

Square36.com

A website is the easy part.

Granted, a nice website with dependable ecommerce takes a little effort……generic templates won’t work.

But most entrepreneurs get overwhelmed with all the website stuff.

Focus on users and customers….NOT on your company, product or prices….and you’ll be fine.

Bob simply jotted down some ideas for his website and handed it to a freelance designer. It should only take a couple of days to develop a simple ten page website.

In fact, whenever you work with a webmaster, designer or programmer ALWAYS insist on completion date. If they can’t do it don’t hire them.

If you hire or retain someone with “artist tendencies” you could wait for years to get a website built!

I’m serious….I’m telling you this from experience on hundreds of ventures and websites.

Enough said.

The next thing Bob did was approach Google to buy keyword advertising.

But get this……..

Google built the Square36 AdWords campaign for them!

You heard right.

Most people don’t realize Google offers free consulting and assistance when it comes to setting up an AdWords campaign.

Yes…..Google wants your money…as much as possible.

But Google understands (better than most)  they can’t make big bucks over the long term without helping people make money.

On top of that, Google gave Square36 seed money credit to launch the product and the campaign!

One of the biggest mistakes Bob made (in his words) were the first twenty prototypes of the oversized yoga mat.

They bought a HUGE roll of PVC mat and asked the yoga supply wholesaler to cut them into 6? x 6? mats.

But the wholesaler ripped off their idea! This is fairly common but it always hurts.

In addition, the wholesale company grabbed the photo of Bob’s mat and took credit for it.

Bob quickly dealt with the situation by changing the color of our mat to black, increasing the density and thickness, and then embossing their logo on it.

Oh….Bob dumped the US wholesaler and went with a reputable company in China.

Bob mentioned the ripoff wholesaler has done a lousy job marketing their “knock off” product and so it hasn’t affected Square36 sales whatsoever.

A Million Dollar Lesson

Bob Maydonik learned a million dollar lesson about doing business in China.

When you do business in China the most important thing is the “connection”.

In other words, if you meet with a Chinese business partner and talk about your family for two hours! In the last ten minutes of a meeting the topic of terms and pricing might surface.

“If you take the factory manager out for beers you’ll get way better pricing & terms”, Bob said.

The business culture in China is built our “connections”, family, friends, and associates,

The biggest thing Bob learned about online marketing (and Google AdWords) is the time of day matters.

In other words, most people aren’t shopping online during their workday. The ads running on weekday nights always perform best.

Bob also said incorporating the cost of shipping into the price is the best way to go. Advertising “FREE SHIPPING” is very effective when it comes to Google AdWords campaigns.

Bob swears by the Alibaba.

He told me entrepreneurs new to this business should find a minimum of three manufacturers who can make what you want.

When you’re getting stuff made in China there’s a good chance the manufacturers will be in the same town (different towns seem to specialize in manufacturing one type of product).

If you can visit manufactuers in person, do it. Bob and his partner visited five factories for the Square36 mat. But only one of the five factories could actually do their project.

Bob registered his Internet domain (URL) with NetFirms.com. They host the domain at BlueHost.com.

Bob said the only thing he would you do differently is pick a product that’s easier to ship. A 6? x 6? yoga mat weighs about ten pounds. It’s as easy to ship as a pair of shoes or a DVD.

What’s more, you can fit a much smaller product in a Sea-Can, this would mean significant savings.

That’s it!

Bob saw a need, developed an idea, started SUPER small, found an inexpensive way to manufacture the product and import it. Then he got some help from Google to set up a profitable AdWords campaign.

You da man!

Please send me your thoughts, ideas, complaints or feedback. We read every comment, email, post and snail mail letter.

Importing Fortunes 2016

 *** Action Strategy ***

Do you have an idea for a product?
Hold on quick draw!
Everyone has an idea for a product.
You need to make sure there’s an existing market for it.
Don’t try to invent or build a demand for something….it’ll cost you millions.
Instead, focus on products already selling in the marketplace.
Three tools I use are Google, eBay and infomercials. Search Google Products and eBay for products selling now. You can use Terapeak to find out what’s selling on eBay too.
Infomercials are a great resource too.
Do you know how much money it takes to develop, market and sell products through an infomercial? The answer is a boatload.
So….if you see repeat infomercials you can bet they are probably selling products like crazy.
Then go to Alibaba.com and find a company to make it for you, and import it.
Start small, test, and roll it out!
